The 2008/09 season was a landmark one for Hull City as the club competed in the top flight of English football for the very first time.
It was truly a remarkable rollercoaster ride as Phil Brown and his players pitted their wits against the best teams in the country, experiencing the many highs and lows along the way that are part and parcel of the Barclays Premier League.
The Tigers were tipped to be sure-fire certainties for a quick return to the Championship, but defied all the odds and treated their supporters to memorable victories at Arsenal, Spurs and Newcastle on their way to being in sixth place at Christmas. The second half of the campaign was far more tense with survival being ensured on a dramatic final day against Champions Manchester United. But the Tigers did it - proving all the critics wrong.
